Production Planner Needed in Ventura

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hours
Pay Range: $33 - $35/hour DOE
We're seeking a strong Production Planner who will take ownership of this position.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating manufacturing activities in the machine shop to ensure on-time delivery, regulatory compliance, and efficient use of resources. This role operates in a low-volume, high-mix, high-complexity environment, and partners closely with machining, quality, engineering, R&D supply chain, and program management to support customer commitments and contract requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for CNC machining, manual machining, and special processing
* Release and manage work orders in accordance with material availability and capacity constraints
* Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, customer flow-downs, and configuration control requirements
* Coordinate with supply chain and outside processors (heat treat, dicronite, plating, EDM wiring, etc..) to meet schedule and compliance needs
* Sequence work to optimize machine utilization while respecting qualification, setup, and first-article requirements. Including ability to process purchase orders and requisitions as necessary.
* Monitor work-in-process (WIP), shortages, and bottlenecks; proactively drive recovery plans
* Participate in daily/weekly production meetings and program reviews
* Partner with engineering on routings, manufacturing plans, lead times, and ECO/MRB impacts
* Support First Article Inspection (FAI) planning and schedule alignment
* Maintain accurate planning data in ERP/MRP systems, including routings, lead times, raw material needs and capacity assumptions
* Support internal and external audits by ensuring planning records, traceability, and documentation accuracy
* Identify risks to delivery and communicate status to operations leadership and program teams
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on schedule adherence, lead time reduction, and throughput
QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:
* 5+ years of experience in planning, scheduling, and outside processing
* Strong understanding of precision machining processes (CNC milling, turning, grinding, multi-axis machining)
* Working knowledge of AS9100, ITAR, and customer-specific quality requirements
* Proficiency with MRP systems and tools in a low volume, high mix environment
* Demonstrated experience coordinating the material needs of a machine shop
* Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; must be a collaborative team player with excellent written and verbal communication.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams, including senior leadership, engineers, technicians, and planners
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Ability to read documents, drawings, and computer screens.
* Ability to type and accurately enter data in computer systems.
* Ability to climb stairs as required.
* Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers.
* Regular lift, carry, or move materials weighing up to 25lbs.
* Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

* Combination of both office and machine shop floor
* Collaborative environment with interaction across machining, quality, engineering and project managers
